SOLO believes that local communities and local authorities have capacity and knowledge; and they should be at the heart of any response, whether it is humanitarian life saving or long-term development programming. Local communities’ involvement and participation in humanitarian response right from planning, prevention and preparedness to early recovery and longer-term development is paramount for the realization of social change.

SOLO believes in partnerships with both local and international organizations based on the principles of equality, transparency, result-oriented approach, responsibility, and complementarity.
